After watching a recent PBS show on “Yellowstone’s Thaw,” and seeing the awesome engineering feats of the Beaver, I am taking the Beaver off Probation and reinserting it in the Top Ten. It still needs to be on its best behavior, however.
So the new Top Ten
Great White Shark
*With every new study about Elephants, it is increasingly impossible not to keep it out of the top slot. Granted, Dog’s fans, of which I’m one, say that there are no rescue cats, and there are not a lot of rescue elephants, but that is because they are so difficult to just plop down onto the scene of a natural disaster, for example.
But one of these days…just sayin’.
Giraffe was knocked out for inactivity.
Others still knocking on the door…Gorilla, Leopard Seal, Hippo, Wolf, Ocelot, Rhino, Yak, Snow Leopard, Raven, Swift, Polar Bear, Mountain Lion and Komodo dragon.
There will be a new update sooner than this last one. Not a ton of activity in the Animal Kingdom recently warranting action on the part of the All-Species List Council. We were disappointed to see two fatal black bear attacks in Alaska. That is normally reserved for its highly-rated cousin, the Grizzly. You might think, well, doesn’t this warrant Black Bear being bumped higher than its current No. 26 ranking? Good question. It was the feeling that the two victims were innocent in all regards, and one was just 16, which is a disqualifying factor.
